Welcome Martin Nisenholtz!

We are thrilled to announce that Martin Nisenholtz is joining the FirstMark team as a Venture Partner. Martin’s decades-long career as a pioneer and founder in digital media, with a track record built on a wealth of digital “firsts,” make him an exceptional addition to the FirstMark team.

Martin led digital for the New York Times in a variety of executive capacities for over 15 years, positioning the Times as an innovator and leader through the unprecedented waves of challenge and opportunity brought about by the emergence and maturation of the web. In 1995, he was the founding executive of NYTimes.com. In 1998, he was named CEO of New York Times Digital, running the organization’s digital efforts across 50 properties, including the flagship NYTimes.com. When the Times integrated digital across its entire organization in 2005, Martin was named SVP of Digital Operations, a post he held through 2011.

Today, Martin is a Professor at the Columbia Journalism School and serves on the boards of Postmedia (TSX:PNC.A, PNC.B), Yellow Media (TOR:YLO), eXelate, RealMatch, and Sulia (a member of the FirstMark community). Earlier in his career, Martin was also a founding faculty member of New York University’s Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP), the first-ever graduate program focused on alternative media. He also founded the Interactive Marketing Group at Ogilvy & Mather, the first digital group at a major U.S. agency.

Martin’s presence within the New York City tech and industry ecosystem, and his unparalleled track record and deep operating experience within digital media, make him an outstanding addition to the FirstMark team. Welcome, Martin — we are excited that you are joining us!
